About me

My name is Axel Thor Aspelund and I am currently studying computer science at The University of Iceland. I'm due to graduate in June 2023. I graduated summer of 2022 with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

I love programming and solving problems.

Short CV

I'm currently working at Landsbankinn as a software engineer along side my studies

Summer of 2021 alongside my University studies I worked for the National University Hospital of Iceland, on a project where I analyzed and quantified the amount of pharmaceutical waste produced as a result of mistreatment, neglect, or expiry. Me and my colleague came up with creative and rigorous frameworks to solve the problem, making use of our programming skills to automate the job for further analysis in the future. This was a sensitive project that we handled well, resulting in substantial structural improvements for the hospital. At the same time, I learned a great deal about working professionally with an established institution and its employees.

Technical skills include; Python, Java, R, MATLAB, C++, SQL, ANSYS, INVENTOR, LaTeX, HTML.

Language skills; Icelandic, English and Spanish.

Other skills; Forklift certified.
